[Manual] Qborder

Step 1: Install the Qborder Add-in (One-time Setup)

  1. Open Microsoft Excel.
  2. Click on the “File” tab in the top-left corner.
  3. Select “Options” at the bottom of the navigation pane.
  4. In the Excel Options window, click on “Add-Ins” from the left sidebar.
  5. In the “Manage” dropdown menu at the bottom, select “Excel Add-ins” and click “Go…”
  6. Check the box next to “Qborder” in the Add-Ins available list.
  7. Click “OK” to close the Add-Ins dialog box.

Step 2: Apply Qborder Styling to a Table

  1. Open the Excel workbook containing the table you want to style.
  2. Select the entire table (including headers and data) by clicking and dragging your cursor over the range. Note: Make sure the table is selected with all its headers and data, and that the first cell of the selection is within the table’s headers.
  3. With the table selected, go to the “Add-Ins” tab in the Excel ribbon. Note: This tab should appear after you’ve installed the Qborder add-in.
  4. In the “Add-Ins” tab, you should see the “Qborder” section.
  5. Click the “Apply Qborder” button in the “Qborder” section. Note: This action will trigger the VBA code to add border lines to the selected table.
  6. A confirmation message may appear, informing you that Qborder will automatically add border lines to the table. Click “OK” to proceed.

Step 3: Review and Adjust Styling (Optional)

  1. After applying Qborder styling, review your table to see the added border lines.
  2. If desired, you can customize the styling further:
  • To adjust the appearance of the headers, you can manually format the header cells (font, color, etc.).
  • To modify the border lines or remove them, you can manually make changes using Excel’s formatting tools.
  1. Save your workbook to retain the Qborder styling changes.

Step 4: Sorting the Table (Optional)

  1. If you want to sort the data within the table, click on any cell within the column you wish to sort by.
  2. Go to the “Data” tab in the Excel ribbon.
  3. Click on the “Sort A to Z” or “Sort Z to A” button, depending on whether you want an ascending or descending sort.

Step 5: Update Qborder Styling (Optional)

  1. If you make changes to the table’s data or structure, you can refresh the Qborder styling by reapplying the “Apply Qborder” action from the “Add-Ins” tab.
